The Knight Motorsport Collectables Years – 1998 to 2004

Knight Motorsport Collectables Superstreet Barracuda at Race City Speedway, Calgary, AlbertaAfter a one year hiatus from racing we returned in 1998. Diane was now the driver of our 1965 Barracuda Superstreet and I was acting as crew chief. Knight Motorsport Collectables became the sponsor of our racing. We had taken my interest in motorsport collectables and opened Knight Motorsport Collectables in 1998. We used the Barracuda as a focal point for the many motorsport events we attended to sell collectables and market the collectables business.

Our racing was limited to several events at Saskatchewan International Raceway and 2 or 3 NHRA Divisional and National Open events in Western Canada due to our new business venture. We continued to race and operate Knight Motorsport Collectables until 2004. The motorsport collectables business was not providing an adequate return on our investment and with a lease renewal eminent we decided to close the business.

The Superstreet Barracuda was tired and needed a complete rebuild. We parked the Barracuda anticipating a rebuild in the next year. However Diane decided it was time for a place to relax at the lake. We acquired a fixer-upper cabin and our next four years were spent relaxing at the lake with hammers, saws, paint brushes, shovels, chain saws and all matter of non-automotive tools and materials.

Knight Motorsport Collectables – Regina, SaskatchewanOur racing was limited to spectating at two or three events a year (including an annual trip to the fall Las Vegas NHRA National Event) and using the Barracuda as a convenient storage spot in the garage.

The fixer-upper was finished in 2009 (we are now too busy racing to relax at the cabin) and the rebuild began.

See You at the Track

George and Diane
