Season Final – Saskatchewan International Raceway

Great weather and racing conditions in Saskatoon resulting in many of race teams running personal bests.  However it was not to be for the Quality Tire Service Cuda.  On Saturday in its first two time trials the Cuda ran its best ever 60 ft. times of 1.37 and 1.38 seconds yet the Elapsed Times did not match the 60 ft. times with runs of 10.66 and 10.73.  In addition, the Cuda was turning right when it left the starting line requiring some fine driving by Diane to keep the car straight and running down the track.  We could not locate any obvious problems with the suspension and concluded it was the tires that had reached the end.  On our third time trial we lowered the starting line RPM to make the Cuda leave easier and in a straight line to compensate for the tires.  Same problem but this time the problem became obvious as it was noted by the start line crew that when the Cuda left the line it was leaking transmission fluid under the tires.  The tires were not at fault, we had a broken front seal on the transmission that was spraying transmission fluid under pressure under the tires.  That was the end of the racing weekend for the Cuda and we got to watch the Juniors run on Saturday and Sunday.

The Knight Archer Insurance Junior Dragsters on the other hand had a good weekend.  On Saturday Alaina Knight lost 1st round and Taliya Knight lost in the 2nd round.  Sunday was much improved as Alaina advanced to the final and unfortunately lost in the final.  Taliya did not have a good day losing in the first round with a break out loss.

Final races for the Knight Archer Insurance Junior Dragsters will be Saturday September 28 at Saskatoon.

The Quality Tire Service Cuda has two race weekends remaining This coming weekend we will be in Pierre, South Dakota running in a NHRA National Open (as I write this - Mark Bennett and the guys at Bennett Automotive Repair are removing the transmission for a rebuild and the guys at Quality Tire Service are installing our new tires on Wednesday).  We will follow the weekend in South Dakota with 2 days in Swift Current on September 28 and 29th for their season final.
