No Winners this Weekend

This weekend marked the end of the season for Knight Motorsports.

The Knight Archer Insurance Junior Dragsters attended a rain out date in Saskatoon on Saturday. There was no race on Sunday.  Taliya Knight lost in the first round and Alaina Knight lost in the second round to end their season.  Although these last races did not add a lot of points to their season total Alaina finished third and Taliya finished fifth in the Junior Dragster Thunder Class.

The Quality Tire Service Superstreet Cuda finished the season with races in Pierre, South Dakota, September 21 and 22nd and in Swift Current, September 28 and 29.

The race in Pierre was a NHRA National Open and we were able to race the Superstreet Class.  Unfortunately the Cuda developed an electrical gremlin which we were unable to locate on Saturday and as a result lost in the 1st round.  We continued to search for the gremlin and finally located it on Sunday morning An MSD RPM control module was not working properly.  We were able to borrow a spare from another racer and fixed the problem.  However due to the problems in the earlier runs we had no data to tune the car and took a guess on the throttle stop setting  The setting was off but Diane outdrove the other driver and took the win even though we were 15 hundredths off the 11:00 Superstreet Index.  With some data to work with we were close in the second round but lost the race by 2 hundredths

Swift Current the following weekend was better.  The car ran flawlessly and was one of the best looking of the 100 plus cars in attendance and got lots of attention from other racers and the 200 spectators on hand.  We raced both days in the SuperPro class which consisted of the quickest 32 cars.  The car and driver worked well and went to the semi-finals (4 cars remaining) before Diane red-lit to lose the 4th round on Saturday.  Sunday dawned with warmer temperatures but a 20 to 30 mph cross wind.  In the first round the car ran well, the driver did her job but the wind calmed down and even with Diane hard on the brakes she lost the 1st round breaking out with a 10.85 on a 10.87 dial in.  Except for the wind Swift Current was a good place to race and we got to meet several of the local Quality Tire employees who were at the race.

See you all next year at a race track near you.
